How to Actually Get Your Digital Product in Front of People (The Honest Guide)

So you made it. You created a digital product — or you're about to — and now you're staring at the screen wondering: okay, but how does anyone actually find this thing?
So you made it. You created a digital product — or you're about to — and now you're staring at the screen wondering: okay, but how does anyone actually find this thing?
That's the part nobody really talks about. Everyone's hyped about making the product. Fewer people will give you a straight answer about what happens after.
This is that straight answer.
First, Let's Get Real About Timelines
I want to be upfront with you before we dive in: building organic traffic takes time. Not forever, but more than a week.
Yes, there are people out there who made their first $100 in their first week. That's real. And it's also not the norm — at all. A lot of those people had some lucky timing, a post that happened to go viral, or an audience from somewhere else that they don't tell you about.
You're not. You're just early.
The Two Paths: Organic vs. Paid
Let's talk about both, because they're not either/or — but one of them requires money upfront, and the other requires time.
Running ads — on Pinterest, Meta, TikTok — can get your product in front of people immediately. Like, tomorrow. You set a budget, create a simple visual, and the platform sends traffic to your store.
The catch is that it costs money before you've made money. And if you don't know what you're doing yet (which is completely fine — nobody does at first), you can burn through a budget fast without figuring out why it didn't convert.
Ads work best once you already know what messaging resonates with your audience. That's usually information you get from the organic process.
So if you want to use ads eventually — great. But starting organically first gives you the foundation to make ads actually work.
Organic traffic means people find you through content — without you paying for every eyeball. It's Pinterest posts, TikTok videos, Instagram carousels, blog posts (hi!), and YouTube videos.
The huge advantage: once it's out there, it can keep working for you. A Pinterest pin you made six months ago can still bring someone to your store today. That's what people mean when they say "passive income" — and it's very real, but it's earned, not instant.
Why Pinterest Is My #1 for Organic Traffic
I'll tell you exactly why Pinterest is my main focus, and it's not just personal preference.
Pinterest is a search engine, not a social media platform. People go there with intent — they're looking for something. They type in "digital planner for ADHD" or "how to make money from home" and they're ready to click, save, and buy.
Compare that to Instagram, where someone's scrolling between a friend's brunch photo and a dog video. The mindset is completely different.
Pinterest also has a longer shelf life for content. On TikTok, a post might spike and then disappear in 48 hours. On Pinterest, a pin can circulate for months — sometimes years.
It also suits our niche specifically well. Digital products, feminine aesthetics, business tips, financial empowerment, cozy creator lifestyle — this is Pinterest's whole personality.
What to do on Pinterest:
- Create beautiful, branded pin graphics (Canva is your best friend)
- Write keyword-rich descriptions — think like a search bar, not like a caption
- Pin consistently: 3–5 fresh pins per day if possible, or use a scheduler like Tailwind
- Link every pin directly to your product page or a blog post that leads there
- Create boards for every topic your audience might search
Other Platforms Worth Your Time
Pinterest is my go-to, but it's not the only option. Here's an honest look at the others:
TikTok — If you can create short videos (even faceless ones with text on screen and music), TikTok's organic reach is still unmatched for a new account. One video can genuinely reach thousands of people in your niche overnight. The flip side: it requires consistency and the algorithm is unpredictable.
Instagram — More competitive than it used to be, but still worth it if you enjoy making carousels or Reels. Faceless content works great here. Instagram Reels are being pushed hard right now, so video content gets more reach than static posts.
YouTube / YouTube Shorts — A slower burn, but YouTube content lives forever and the search intent is high. Shorts are getting a big push from the algorithm right now, similar to TikTok. If you can create even simple 30–60 second videos, this is underrated.
Your own blog — Yes, like this one. It takes time to rank on Google, but when it does, it's some of the highest-quality traffic you can get. Write about what your audience is searching for. (Which is exactly what I'm doing right now.)
Ways to Speed It Up (Without Going Full Ad Budget)
Okay, so you want to move a little faster — without spending a ton on ads. Here's what actually works.
This is genuinely the fastest shortcut that most people don't know about.
PLR products — that's "Private Label Rights" — are digital products created by someone else that you're allowed to resell as your own. Templates, eBooks, guides, swipe files. You buy them once, customize them to match your brand, and sell them.
This removes the biggest bottleneck: creating the product itself.
I actually have a done-for-you product in my shop — my Instagram template pack — designed specifically for digital product sellers. It's ready to go, fully customizable in Canva, and you can have it set up in your store within a day. No starting from scratch.
If creating isn't really your thing, or you just want to start making sales while you figure out your creative process, this is the move.
If you have a bit of a budget and want custom content, hiring a freelance designer or content creator to make your product is an option too. Platforms like Fiverr and Contra have affordable options.
The caveat: this costs money before you've made money. So make sure you have a clear idea of what you're selling and who you're selling it to before you invest in this.
What You Actually Lose By Waiting
I don't want to use fake urgency on you — that's not how I operate.
But I do want to be honest about something: the market for digital products is growing fast, and it's going to keep growing. More creators are entering this space every month.
The people who started a year ago have a year's worth of content, pins, followers, and sales on you. That gap gets harder to close the longer you wait.
Not impossible — people start from zero every single day and build real income streams. But starting now, even messily, even imperfectly, puts you a year ahead of the version of you who's still thinking about it next January.
The algorithm rewards consistency over time. A Pinterest account that's 6 months old has more authority than one that's 6 days old. Every week you post is a week of data, reach, and momentum that can't be faked or backdated.
Tools to Make Your Life Easier
Here are two products from my shop that I genuinely think can help you get organized and moving:
You Can Do This
I really mean that. Not in a motivational poster way — in a "I've seen people start from literally nothing and build a real income" way.
You don't need thousands of followers. You don't need a perfect product. You don't need to know everything about marketing before you begin.
You need one solid product, one platform you're willing to show up on consistently, and the patience to let it grow while you keep going.
Start with Pinterest. Post 3 pins today. Write descriptions like a real person who's searching for what you're selling. Link it to your shop. Then do it again tomorrow.
That's it. That's the whole secret.
The life you're imagining — the one where you check your phone and there's a sale notification, where you make money while you sleep, where you're building something that's actually yours — it's not out of reach.
It's just on the other side of a few months of consistent effort.
Go make your first pin.
